Huge bandaid! Okay, so Lincoln was climbing on one of our chairs in our photo gallery and it was unstable and moved, thus he slipped and his forehead went crashing into a very pointy coffee table (that I got from Rachelle). I rushed to his side and saw a HUGE goose egg. It hadn't started bleeding, but had cut through the skin. Lincoln was freaking out. Luckily, I have inherited good genes from my dad when it comes to reacting in critical situations, so I barked to Jon to get the children's motrin and barked to my mom to get a bunch of ice. We laid him in my lap on the couch and held the ice to his forehead for a good half hour. Lincoln finally stopped struggling to get the ice off after 15 minutes and calmed down until we were done. We questioned whether we should go to the ER to get stitches, but we decided it wasn't deep enough. We applied neosporin and some butterfly bandaids, and then this monster bandaid. My mom thought it would take months for it to heal (lol), but just after a week or so it was good to go. I should get a close-up of his face to show everyone how great a medical team Jon and I make. We would make our own dads proud. :0)
This lady at the zoo just walked up to us randomly and gave us these free ride tickets. We used them to take Lincoln on the carousel and a pony ride. He did so well on the carousel by himself. He didn't need me or Jon to hold on to him. He's such a coordinated little kid.(Okay, so his hair. Get this... I grew it out all summer to see what it would do. I wanted to see if it could look cute long, like the popular style two years ago. But it didn't work. His hair wasn't thick enough on the sides to weigh down his curly frizzies, so I finally buzzed them off. Unfortunately, I only had time to cut the sides. So now, his hair looks like the popular style from back in the 80's with Vanilla Ice as our hair model. It's so long and curly on the top and can make the best mow hawk. It's pretty goofy. I hope to bring it back to current styles here soon. The funny thing is is that Lincoln has no idea how he looks, and gosh does his hair make a difference. I can't stop laughing. I don't want him to look back at his kid photos and be embarrassed of his haircuts. Maybe I should enroll myself in beauty school. Maybe there's hope for me yet...
I can't explain how proud I am of Lincoln. He rocks. This kid had no inhibitions getting up on the horse. He grabbed right on to the saddle and didn't even need me to hold on to him. He loved it. Totally got right into the rocking, as if he was dancing. (Okay, side note--again! But I'm totally laughing because yesterday at church as we go to start singing the hymns, the kid starts rocking out on the pew and moving his arms and head and body around like we just put on Beyonce. It was so great. Jon and I couldn't stop laughing. He's such a great dancer. Anytime he hears music he'll totally start dancing. Oh, it's the best thing for me. It makes my heart soar with pride. I've always wanted Jon to be able to dance like Usher (lol) and now I got my wish with Jon Jr. Oh, it's so great.) Okay, back to the pony ride... so I was so super impressed with Lincoln during the whole ride and I kept on thinking how he's gonna be just like me and my dad in the sense that he's a natural at so many things. Gosh, I sound so conceited. Let me explain. When I was a kid, I could pick up any sport and do well. I was just really good at learning new things. Same with my dad. He's super good at sports (except now his body's old, old, old). I think it's in our genes, and Lincoln got it. Yea! Now we just need to teach him how to use crayons. He might be good at dancing and riding ponies, but he sure has no interest in drawing. He'd rather organize. Gosh, do all firstborns turn out like their moms? I love to organize!
