Date Night

Yea! We finally went out on a date. We'll do the whole date night thing at home with a movie and la, la, la. But it's way more fun to go out on the town and run around. We had a great time and only spent a whopping $5! We cruised in the Vue to downtown (took some back roads and explored a bit all the while singing as loud as we could to our favorite jams of the 90's), then we parused downtown not knowing where we were going or where we had parked. Indy has a war monument that has the craziest sculptures. There were bears chained up in handcuffs, etc. This is a picture right in front of one of the fountains.

Can you see the American flag? Isn't that rad?! Another highlight of the night a missionary experience we had. I randomly wanted to go check out the motorcycles and search for a Ducati. The one I found happened to belong to the boyfriend of an investigator. I totally snuck up on her and we got to catch up a bit. She got a good job that makes her work during church, so she hasn't been able to come, unfortunately. But, I'm going to see what kind of activities I can still invite her to, at least. I'm glad we know that God doesn't make coincidences.

Jon promised me that every year on our dating anniversary that he would get me that number of roses. So, this year makes 4 whole years of dating non-stop. Wow! That actually blows my mind. Good job Dorsey and Jon. The roses were beautiful. Here's some pictures Jon took. I think for our official wedding anniversary we're gonna try to go to the Chicago temple and spend a day there kid free. Very exciting.

KT V

Terrie taught us how to make her famous pie crust, which she learned from her daddy. She also taught me how to make the best buttercream icing. I'm so so relieved. For our entire marriage I've totally bautched all the cakes I've made. It's been really discouraging. I used to be so good at baking. Hopefully this will help.

I love Jon. He's such an involved husband. He does a really good job helping me out with the house. Plus, he enjoys helping with the cooking and the baking. One night while I was napping he totally made cookies for me. What a yummy surprise.

So, we found this basketball hoop for free and love to play shooting wars on it. It was girls against guys, and by the look of Jon's face, I think you can figure out who won. We did that with his parents and our neighbors Jenny and Cris several times. It was great.

What a beautiful picture.

Lincoln's TV face. Check out his hand. I haven't seen him do that before. And in the picture above you can see how one set of toes are up and the others are down.

K&T Visit III

Where's all the photos of Kraig and Terrie? I don't know. Somehow Kraig ended up taking a lot of us. Sorry...
What a striking photo of Romeo.

Lincoln and Grandma. Terrie made me paranoid by not ever putting Lincoln's shoes on. Right where Lincoln's stepping in the picture with Romeo was where I stepped directly on a nail. But, I admit, it's good to let the kid feel what it's like to have the grass between his toes. Having a love for nature is an important attribute.

Kraig & Terrie's Visit II

Our vegetable garden. It hasn't grown too well because it has been raining way more than usual here and my plants have been way too soggy. Needless to say, my gardening experience is a lot harder and less successful than my first time, unfortunately. But I still have hope and keep on praying for my little buggers to be able to produce some fruit/veggies. We have been fortunate to enjoy our green beans, butterleaf lettuce, and strawberries, though.

They bought Lincoln all kinds of balls. He loves his football the best. Dad's favorite color yellow.

What a great shot by Kraig on the photo. What a great shot by Jon with the ball... hopefully.

Kraig & Terrie's Visit

Jon and I are figuring out what dinners, out of the ones we love to eat, that we wanted to make for his parents. Terrie was such a nice mother-in-law by totally hooking me up with her own collection of recipes. I keep the ones I make on a regular basis written out on index cards, so she spent a couple of hours copying her own recipes on index cards for me to keep. I'm so grateful and so excited to have more of a selection to pick from. Tomorrow I'm going to make my favorite of Terries: Cabbage Chicken Salad. It's sooooo good. But it makes you fart like crazy. he he.

I wanted to see if Jon's nose shape comes from his dad. And guess what... it does! Kraig's isn't as defined, though. Just some goofy little things that we, or maybe I, had fun with.

Jon and his dad pretending to be some hill-billy golfers. They got to go golfing twice in 5 days. I'd say that's pretty good. I love Jon's faces. He's so much fun.

Too bad this is a side shot. Their faces were hilarious!

Our Public Library Rocks!

This is the best library I've seen. The kids' section is amazing. It's quite touching that people will go this much out of their way just to make a place so inviting and fun for your child when they don't have to. Terrie and Lincoln are looking at all the floating bugs hanging from the ceiling. It helped that Terrie was there to lift him up, since his grandma is way taller than his mom. Isn't that kinda backwards?

Here they made a tree and have all these things to climb in and mats to climb on.

They had a huge train set. Lincoln can barely say the word train, but he's learned about them from Word World and likes them a lot. I didn't know that the library was such a great place to bring Lincoln. We are going to try and visit once every week. Even better... it's FREE!

Flowers from our Gardens

These aren't flowers, of course. But they are really cool strawberries. They have survived some amazing things. We brought them from Utah and mean a lot to us. This is the first year we've been able to enjoy their fruit. I'm so sad that our strawberry season is already over. I thought it would last all summer. Come to find out it's only a couple of weeks. Bummer.
